That Point

Ok, so it's been a really long time...  Sorry about that...  I've found it a little difficult to write lately.  I've been writing and rewriting several posts in my head for the last two months.  There's been so many things going on, both with the house and in life in general, and the house has definitely kept me way busier than I'd really like.  And for those of you who I haven't talked to lately, yes, the house is still not done!  Part of my problem, too, is that I generally try to write about positive things, and, well, let's just leave it at this - that the house has gone on much longer and cost more than I had planned (Think JWST, for those of you who know space missions).  I'm just at That Point...

I'm sure many of you know what That Point is!  For sure, anybody who's done any sort of home repair or renovation work knows That Point.  Those of you who are or have been in grad school definitely know That Point.  It's the point at which if somebody else walks up and asks you when you're going to be done, you just wish you had something in your hands to throw at them!  Now, I don't mean to be mean, but there's a point where the answer to "When is the house going to be done?" or "When are you going to graduate?" just becomes, "I wish I knew" (and secretly, in your head, becomes "If I knew that, do you think I'd still be here?", or even "Hell if I know, how about you go find out and let me know" if you're feeling particularly snarky).  Of course I don't generally answer this way, because I'm happy that people are genuinely interested.  I appreciate the interest and the support that all my friends and family have provided, because I'm sure there's no way I could still be sane without it!  So I keep my frustration at the house not being done yet to myself, and end up not really posting anything to the blog.

So I guess what I mean to say is, I'm sorry that I haven't kept this terribly up to date, and please don't be insulted if I sometimes seem reluctant to talk about it.  The house is really starting to finally come together, and I've got another couple posts I've been working on that will follow this one (with pictures!).  I know that when this is all said and done, the frustration and stress and all this time will be well worth it, because it will all look good.  But in the mean time, feel free to ask "How's the house going?", just please, please, don't ask "When will the house be done?"!  Thanks!!!  :-)
